Symbolism

Maroon and white are the colors used for the Army Medical Department. The three stars on the band signify the merger of the two field hospitals to the main hospital center. The stars to the left and right on band represent field hospitals with mobile unit capabilities. The red cross represents the medical support mission of the hospital center and supporting units. The winged staff with blue serpents entwined depict the caduceus symbol, which represents all medical services.  The sword with point to base is symbolic of sacrifice and mercy to the noncombatant role of the medical services. The motto, “We Belong” alludes to the creation of this Hospital Center with its respective Field Hospitals and associated units, as well as the wish of the soldiers within the units to serve and execute their medical support mission.
